.(photo)print swap. (theme)landscapes.

with a little inspiration (little being an understatement) from my girlfriend, ashley, i am going to host my first ever photo print swap! so as the host i say hello and lets get this ball rolling.

as a professional photographer i love networking! what a great way to connect and network than to start giving & receiving what you love; photographs. i don’t know about you but having new images to hang on my walls is always an exciting moment so let me introduce how this thing works below.

Information:

You will be paired with someone to swap photo prints. The “partners” will be chosen at random once everyone is signed up. If all goes smoothly each individual that participates will receive a brand new print! This swap is open to all skill level photographers. Beginner to professional!

Theme:

Why a theme? First I plan on doing more swaps in the future so having themes will make each one different and challenging. And secondly, I don’t want people to receive completely random prints. That may get weird, or disappointing.

The theme is going to be landscapes. Interpret this how you like. But if you want a definition, well…

Landscape comprises the visible features of an area of land, including the physical elements of landforms such as (ice-capped) mountains, hills, water bodies such as rivers, lakes, ponds and the sea, living elements of land cover including indigenous vegetation, human elements including different forms of land use, buildings and structures, and transitory elements such as lighting and weather conditions.

Every photographer has a different eye, so use it! There are no rules as far as photographs go.

Steps:

ONE: Email me at fusillo.foto@gmail.com telling me you want to join! A follow-up questionnaire will be sent shortly after. Sign ups close November 20.

TWO: Spread the word and share the swap with the world. If you think a friend or relative may be interested let them know, show them this post. Make some phone calls, use your thumbs and text everyone, connect with Facebook or Twitter, take a picture and share on Instagram…the more people the better.

Twitter/Instagram hashtag – #printswaplandscapes

THREE: November 22 I will send you partner information. Add them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, follow their sites and/or blogs. Make friends not enemies.

FOUR: Print your print. All prints must be 8X10 or 8×12.

FIVE: On or before December 1 mail out a print. Please make sure you follow this step or a kitten will die.

SIX: Receive your new print, take a photo of it and share; whether it be a blog, a facebook status update, twitter, or on instagram let everyone know how happy you are.

SEVEN: Please let me know you have received your print. Send me a photo, and I will link and post pictures on my blog in December. Happy printing!

Answering Your Printing Questions:

Size? 8 x 10 or 8 x 12

Bordered or not? Doesn’t matter. I will be printing with a border.

Signed or not? Up to the photographer

Glossy or not? I always print without gloss. Places call it different but if you see lustre, matte or pearl that is not glossy. I recommend it, no messy fingerprints.

What about picking a place to print? There are many stores in your neighborhood that probably offer one hour print services such as: Costco, Walgreens or CVS. Call the store to make sure they have a photo department. If you have a printer that supports great color quality and photo paper feel free to do it at home. Also there are great online photo services for the professional or amateur photographer; below are some sites:

PRODPI

SHUTTERFLY

MPIX

SNAPFISH

NATION’S PHOTO LAB

ADORAMA PIX

BAY PHOTO
